Music & Drama

Music at Rutherglen Primary is offered by talented musician Phillip Stone who offers a range of music lessons in acoustic guitar, bass guitar, ukulele and drums.  These lessons are taken up by students as a user pay activity and a termly fee applies.

Lessons are generally run in small groups, although private lessons are also available.  Students are taught in a fun and encouraging way with an emphasis on building skills and understanding not only in music, but also in how to work in groups, commit to their group goals and be supportive of each other.

At Rutherglen Primary School we present our school production on a bi-annual basis.  Our production involves every student from Foundation to Year 6 and is a huge team effort involving students, staff and our families.

Traditionally, our Year 5-6 students hold main roles with students in Foundation-Year 4 providing support to the storyline through song and dance. Our Year 5-6 students also assume key roles in set and prop design and construction, publicity and stage crew.  Our school production is also a fundraising opportunity for our school, with the money raised going back into programs to benefit our students.
