Rutherglen Primary School Sports

Rutherglen Primary School encourages and supports all students to be involved in sport both at school and in our wider community, as a way of helping students grow physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. Participation in team sport fosters a sense of co-operation, assists with the development of friendship and promotes an appreciation of what it is to be a ‘good sport’. All students in Years 5 and 6 participate in a one hour weekly sports session.

Rutherglen Primary School is a member of the Wangaratta District School Sports Association and within this our students compete against other membership schools in a number of sports including, football, soccer, tee-ball and netball.  Our students also have an opportunity to be a part of teams in competitions including Hockey 7s, lawn bowls and cricket and in district swimming, athletics and cross country.

Aside from using our own oval and synthetic turf we also utilise the numerous sporting facilities in our local community.
